  • In this video, Ed Frawley shares a question from the Ask Cindy database. Today's question is about a 9-month-old Goldendoodle that gets overstimulated and redirects onto the female handlers in this family. This family wrote to Cindy looking for advice after suggestions from their trainer weren't helping change the dog's behavior.

Concerning the post below. I agree with you that prong collars are effective for certain dogs in certain situations - but not all. You need to watch my video here and liten to what I say: Prong collars on the wrorng dog can easily OVERLY STIMULATE a hectic dog or a OVERLY REACTIVE DOG. The place to use them (if you choose to use them and we do ) is not when the dog if beiong reactive.
You need to intorduce the dog to a prong in non-reactive situations. You need to do this so the dog learns to respect the prong collar before you add it to a hectic situation,.
I have an intensive online course did title DEAKING WITH DOMINANT AND AGGRESSIVE DOGS - look on my web site. leerburg.com I have been working with training dogs in biting sports and police service dogs since 1874. There is a lot of mBS oon RUclips. Be careful who you listen to.

I am so happy to have found this video. I will definitely stop all play in the house.
Over stimulation from play or trying to start play is the only time he does this behavior .
I had no idea how to correct this behavior without making it worse. I found only one video and it works great for each instance but hasn't corrected the behavior. He is a 1.5 year old cattle dog . Thank god for me he is very sensitive to correction so I hesitate to use the prong collar. I will be ordering one of your slip collars today.

I have been using prong collar on my GSD mix. It works just fine but I am seeing so many of these crazy force-free trainers who call me a dog abuser. Not that I want to put some brain into their heads but what can I say to prove that prong collar is not a torture tool?

@k9cfc thanks! Yeah I know I can’t fix them. I just thought there may be something that they would see as a solid proof but deep inside I always knew there isn’t such a proof for those people 🤷‍♀️

Don’t waste energy on trying to talk to a wall, just continue what you’re doing and know you’ll have a well trained dog and keep working on your relationship with your dog. ❤

@@EricaJoy005 thank you so much for such a great comment! He’s a very good boy! He is reactive but he is a rescue, and we never stop working with him and our relationship

Explain how dogs correct each other. Same theory
